The Hedgehogs are coming…

We’ve teamed up with the Hedgehog golf company, and will soon have replacement wheel sets available for the GoKart trolley.

We’ve found lately that many clubs are now allowing electric golf trolleys on the course in the winter as long as their wheels are suitably attired (there’s a pun in there somewhere). Fortunately the clever Hedgehog people have developed a range of replacement wheels kits incorportating their patented rubber studs.

They have made these to fit the GoKart too, which will be available exclusively from us. The kit includes all three wheels, including the non-driving front wheel. This is important because increasingly clubs are saying the front wheel has to be hogged as well as the driving wheels. According to the experts, the compaction of the wet soil by flat wheels is a problem, as well as wheel spin tearing off the top layer of soil. These wheels should solve both the issues.

We’re expecting our first delivery around mid December, with further supplies available after the New Year. The price for the kit will be £61 plus post and packing. Availability will be limited to begin with, so if you’d like to reserve a set please let us know sharpish; please click here to send us a message.

  1. Hi Roy. We agree that it’s a shame that the seat can’t be used with hedgehogs in place, but the seat design just can’t accommodate the shape of the wheels – something we didn’t anticipate when we came up with the idea.

  2. Sorry lads had a bad round (lost4&3) missed at least four two foot puts no fault of the Gokart ,brilliant product Roy

  3. I’ve just played at Ruckliffe Hall where they offer a Hedhehog kit for £30.00 approximately. Your price seems a bit high?

  4. Hi Bernard – yes we have you on the waiting list for the hedgehogs and we’ll be sure to email you as soon as we have them available.

  5. Hi John. You’ll find that £30 is the price for the two over tyres for just the drive wheels, that you can buy direct from Hedgehog. Our proposed set is for all three wheels and designed specifically not just for electric trolley use but for the GoKart in particular. You may find that your club insists on the third wheel being protected too. The over tyres, whilst they were useful when they were the only option, will wear out quicker than the specially designed set that we’re producing.

  6. I look forward to the arrival of The Hedgehogs. We have needed a snowplough on my course last week. Perhaps you could design a lightweight plough for the GoKart. Just for use on clearing the greens!

  7. I did write asking you to let me know when the hedgehogs are available. However a couple of ‘sages’ in my club say that hedgehogs will damage the motor and drain the battery ( they have the power caddy winter wheels ). I must say that I did pull a trolley last winter with hedgehogs and it wasn’t easy ie lots of drag. So I can see were my mates are coming from.
Given this what would be the chances of adapting the power caddy winter wheels to the Gocart?
    Regards
    Frank

  8. Hi Frank,
We have absolutely no hesitation in confirming that hedgehog wheels will do no harm whatsoever to the GoKart. They don’t significantly increase the load on the motor, nor do they require increased power from the battery. We’ve tested them and there’s no problem.
The method of wheel attachment is completely different on a Powakaddy compared to a GoKart. Modifying the PK wheels to fit isn’t really a practical proposition.

  9. Do you sell just the front wheel I have put hedgehog wheels on another set of wheels so do not want to spend £61 just to get the front wheel

  10. Hi Ruth,
No we’re not selling the front wheel on it’s own. The set of three hedgehogs are designed especially for the GoKart. Whilst the tie on ‘over tyres’ have been useful the new ones will fit perfectly and last longer. If your club don’t mind about the front wheel being unprotected, maybe wait until your overtyres have worn out and then invest in ours?

  11. Why are the hedgehogs so exspensive to buy, and can they be fitted easily and if we do find that they are a drag on the battery will there be a guarantee for the battery.

  12. Well received my trolley from Santa! Very impressed.

I had a similar dilemma with the hedgehogs. Didn’t want to shell out for new wheels so got some hoppas as recommended here (10″) and fitted with cable ties. The hoppas were a snug fit and played a round with no issue.

You can fit back into the bag with hoppas fittd but it is a very tight squeeze. Are the winter wheels you supply easier to pack back into the bag?
