Prices are going up soon!!

We’ve held on as long as possible, but we have to increase the price of a GoKart. From March 1st 2009, the GoKart with standard battery will be £219, plus £15 for UK mainland delivery. With the 36 hole battery, the price will be £249, plus delivery.

We thought that a bit of advance notice would be kind!

We launched in 2007 and, from the very beginning, owners have enthused  about GoKart. They love the way it folds, how it performs on the course and  the way they don’t have to fiddle around with connecting batteries. The new two year warranty  just introduced reflects how happy we are with the way it’s working. We’ve won a handful of design awards (click here, here and here), but most importantly more and more golfers are trying GoKarts and loving them. We’re really excited to be going into the 2009 season!

But we have to keep an eye on the figures, and our decision to make the GoKart ourselves, rather than get it made outside the UK, does put the pressure on costs. We’ve already cut out the middle man by selling direct, rather than through golf shops, but still our margin has become very thin. We believe that, even at the higher prices, the GoKart is good value, and hope you will agree. We’re determined to maintain the high standards of design, manufacture and service that we’ve established so far, but we have get the numbers to add up, and as raw material prices continue to rise due to the weak pound, something has to give.

  1. Reasonable in today’s financial climate…..businesses have to survive too.
I’d of happily paid up to £250 now I know how good it is :-)

  2. I was lucky enough to buy my GoKart in December when in addition to a price of £209 (DELIVERED), I also got a free carry bag.
I know it may be a little easy for me to say, but even at the new price and without the free carry bag, I would still of bought the trolley and my opinion as to it’s value for money would not of changed.
The level of customer service is worth a price increase on it’s own, keep up the good work at GKHQ

  3. Just taken delivery of my Kart, used today for first time. Everyone who saw it says how good it looks, it performed perfectly, very pleased. Will review again in a few months when I have had the chance to give it a proper run. As to the price rise, in my opinion its well worth it even at the new price, but maybe you should check your suppliers as the price of raw materials has recently dived due to lack of demand and the price of oil.

  4. I think with all the sales people you have out there (thats us guys with GoKarts who I am sure like me are keen to see you succeed) GoKart will have a bumper 2009 and on and on. Not just because the kart is good, innovative, light, different, colourful and funky etc, but more the customer satisfaction with the product is well matched by the customer service. The custome satisfaction through the interaction of the all in the company should be taken as a lesson for British business right across the board. The service I have experienced over the two or so years I have had my kart has been second to none. I dont want to list here all I have experienced, but to say it was over and above expectations would understate the facts. Very well done and good luck

  5. Regarding the price increase, I think it is only inevitable BUT KO-GART will still be the brightest and most effecient electric trolley on the market. NOT because I have already got one BUT because the after sales support is top notch and the “0ne syllable”language is brill. All I have done is call the folks at KO-KART and the problem is resolved with any spare parts in the post THAT DAY.
Keep it up people and KO-GART will top the charts.

  6. Mary,
At the moment we only have a storage bag, to put the trolley in when it’s in the boot. The price is £19.
We will also have a golf bag in the same colour schemes as the trolleys themselves. These will be available around April time. The prices aren’t set yet, but we’ll publish more news as soon as possible.

  7. bought my kart last month and it is still brand new due to this great weather we are having. Reading these comments has made me a little concerned about the reliability of the product. I was hoping to never speak to customer services, well not until I needed to order a new one, but it sounds like you guys have had some issues. That has me concerned.
With regard to the price, don’t worry GK your cheaper that the conventional electric kart wannabes and a lot cheaper than the big names.

  8. Connor,
In an ideal world, we’d agree, customer service wouldn’t be needed. But we’d never try and claim the GoKart is the perfect product, that will never go wrong. We put a huge amount of effort into it’s design, and we take an awful lot of trouble to assemble the trolley carefully in our factory. If over time any part of the GoKart doesn’t perform as well as it should, we own up to it and we fix it. We are very open and honest about these things. It’s all we can do, and we hope it’s enough.
When you get a chance to try your trolley, hopefully you’ll like it. But if you have any concern, please don’t hesitate to let us know. It means a great deal to us that our customers are happy with the GoKart. We’ve got an excellent incentive to get it right – it’s our only product!

  9. well I understand that things sometimes do go wrong, and I like a lot of your customers value great service as much as a great product, but I hope I will never have to get in touch, unless it’s for an upgrade.
As for putting the kart throught it’s paces it would be nice to have the distance to see how fast these babies go, my hall just isn’t long enough to reach top speed, but she sure does look to be quick!!!

  10. I’m currently using Hillbilly with two good batteries-will they convert?
    Thank you
    Michael brian

  11. Customer Service is not only about when things go wrong – and they really haven’t with my GoKart except for an unfortunate incidident which was nevertheless fixed with no fuss – its about the support for questions and ideas, as well as providing the confidence in a great product with terrific after sales service.

  12. after my first season using the Gokart golf trolley I have nothing but positive feelings towards it, the 18 hole battery managed 36 holes in the club championship and several times i have forgotten to charge it after a round and went to my next round hoping it will get me through and its never failed me yet. The only blemish on my trolley is my friend miss hit a shot and cracked the plastic off one of the wheels (Some of those new wheels with treads on would be a lovely replacement “hint hint”) I am a Fan and a active promoter of this trolley where ever i go. Even if you dont send me some new wheels with tread on all the above is true Ha Ha.

  13. It’s still great value and would buy a new one tomorrow if my old one packed up, have had mine since May 2007 and still looks brand new.
I have yet to come across another company with the support that GoKart give even when they don’t have to they do and with a smile.
    Message to Connor
The dealings I have had with Chris & Sandy have been free upgrades like new front wheel and mud guard assemble and free new grippy wheels, they have improved the design and could of charged for them but didn’t, who else does that?
The only problem I had was a faulty battery after a 1 ½ years use and was sorted straight away. Other companies only guarantee batteries for 6 months

  14. My playing partner recently purchased a well known competitors power trolley against my advice advised him to get a gokart as I have had nothing but excellent service and tech support. Lo and behold one week later his battery connection is playing up told him to get back to the shop and get his money back and save £80 quid and get a gokart.

  15. i was considering purchasing but was hoping you would have a jan/feb sale to bring the price down. maybe throw in the brolly holder or free delivery or something.
your website says you are putting the price up – why?
thats made my mind up, its highly unlikely i will be buying now, perhaps you are unaware the country is in a recession ,a lot of us me included are now unemployed.
    many thanks
    david fearnehough

  16. Dear Mr Fearnehough,
Really sorry to receive your comment. We are putting up prices to maintain the minimum profitability for our company to remain healthy. Yes, money is short at the moment, and that effects businesses as well as individuals. It would be in nobody’s interest, customers or our staff, if we left our prices too low, or had sales promotions we couldn’t afford. We are not making excess profits.
Regarding a Sale, did you see we are currently offering re-conditioned trolleys for £140, plus post and packing? Please see this page for more info.

  17. AS YOUR PRICES ARE GOING UP, ARE YOUR WAGES GOING UP, I HAVE BEEN TOLD, THAT DUE TO THE ECONOMY I WILL NOT GET A PAY RISE THIS YEAR?? I GOT 3% LAST YEAR – YOUR KART SEEMS TO BE INCREASED BY 13%? – MY NUMBERS MAY BE WRONG?

  18. Matt,
We admit that this increase is ahead of inflation, but we’ve held our prices since launching in Jan 2007, in which time our costs have increased considerably. This is is a re-adjustment to maintain the correct level of profitability for us to remain a viable company. We still believe the GoKart represents very good value for money at the new price.

  19. Will your trolley fit in the front or rear storage compartment of a Porsche Boxster?
    Thank you

  20. David,
Yes, you can get one in the front and another in the back! You’d need to take off the quick-release wheels to put it in the back, but that’s the best place for your golf bag anyway.
