Gripping stuff

Here’s a sneak preview of a change we’re making to the GoKart wheels.

To make best use of our famous furiously frisky motor, we’ll be bringing out a grippier wheel to get that all that power transferred more efficiently. Needless to say, any existing owner suffering wheelspin problems will be able to get hold of a new pair of wheels free of charge. More news on availability soon.

Please note, there’s no need to tell us now if you’d like the new wheels. Please keep an eye on our newsletter; we’ll let you know as soon as we have them available.

  1. Colin,
The wheel and tyre is one unit and neither can be replaced individually. When the revised wheel is available. We’ll let you know

  2. My wife purchased her go kart year ago and its just great…
Except the wheel spin in wet /Icy coditions we would like to know if you have any dates for the impovements ie front wheel & tyres
As I would like to purchase a Kart myself

  3. Great idea, will certainly help on hillier courses, but I have another question – as winter never really went away, it won’t be long before I need hedgehogs again! Can you do a set of hedgehog wheels? This would avoid cable ties slipping etc?

  4. Terry,
We don’t have a firm date at the moment. The new wheels will fit all GoKarts, and we’ll send you a pair free of charge if you’ve already bought a trolley.

  5. Paul,
We don’t supply Hedgehog wheel covers, but you can fit them to the GoKart. You can buy them here. Also have a look at this.

  6. The wheelspin problem is rather quite annoying, therefore, I am glad you guys are working to resolve this issue. I must say that I have found your service and customer relationship extremely delightful and it is very refreshing to see a company actually caring about the product that they are selling. Keep up the good work and I will be recommending you to a number of people. I just hope you don’t lose your personal touch. Thank you.
    Kind regards,

  7. New wheels look better and hopefully will perform better than the smooth version that are currently fitted to my trolley. I have been experiencing quite a bit of wheel spin, especially when maneouvring my trolley over a lip from a gravel path to the grass. The front wheel & guard do tend to catch and collect the loose shail on the paths at my golf club, especially in the wet. Would like to change the wheels & front guard when they become available.

  8. Noticed on Saturday at my club (after all the rain) I wa experiencing wheel spin on a couple of our holes. now I know what Carlos Saintz feels like when driving in the Icelandic rally in the middle of winter

  9. I like the old wheels. You can spin them with the motor running to get the crap off them before you leave the course on the 18th and pack the cart away on the boot. The new wheels look like they would hold lots of dirt in them. And all over you when you pack away ?? What about offering them as an option – either or ?
    Just a thought…….
    Steve……….

  10. Steve,
We will be able to offer both wheels. Although we don’t anticipate the new tread causing a huge problem – spinning the wheels up will still clean off the majority of the grass and mud – we’re not talking Land Rover, jungle crossing style here.

  11. Guys!
The Wheels have always slipped when there has been a bit of moisture on the ground, especially when going up any gradient. In my view it was the only apparent design weakness when I first got a Kart.
    Regards and thanks
    Neil.

  12. I find I have exactly this problem on my golf course, on some of the steep fairways with a little bit of wet the wheels tend to spin.We also have a couple of wooden bridges covered with fine mesh to get from one hole to another the wheels spin on here as well.Other than this I am very satisfied with my trolley and glad I decided to buy it.
(ps) I would like red badge for my trolley.

    Many Thanks P W Greer

  13. excellent idea! we often have spinning wheels in sand, and in rough areas (yes I sometimes miss the fairway). I am looking forward to these tank wheels.

  14. Neat idea, but what about making hedgehog wheels for those of us that have to use them during the winter months, or will the new wheels be considered as hedgehogs?

  15. The new tyres look very useful Please let us know when they are available.
    Joyce and Tony

  16. These new wheels look fantastic!!! they would definatly help me at my course, vefy hilly on the back 9!!
Count me in for a set when they are ready!!!!

  17. Put me down for a pair of ‘gripping’ wheels please.
How is the new brolley holder coming on? The one I modified and attached to my Kart works well but is a little low so I end up like the ‘Hunch-back of Notty Ash’.
    Regards
    Dave

  18. Dave,
We’re hoping to have the brolly holder ready for later this year, but can’t give a date at the moment. I shall tell our tool makers to get a move on because our customers are turning into Diddy Men

  19. Fantastic Idea. Played some hilly but wet courses and lots of power in the motor causing too much wheel spin.
    The wheels look the business.

  20. looks good will it be good enough for the winter like the hedge hog type that are used?

  21. Mike,
Our wheel won’t be a replacement for Hedgehogs. If your club insists on these in the winter, you’ll still need to fit them, or carry I’m afraid. You can fit Hedgehogs to the GoKart wheels though

  22. New wheels seems like a good idea as I think that if there is weak point on the cart it is the wheels, especially the small front one!!!

  23. Dear GoKart,
As one of the first i bought the Gokart some months ago in Holland and i am very, very happy with it. Play once or twice a week 18 holes and have not experienced any problem whatsoever. About the new wheels: as we play in the Ardennes (hills and steep slopes) from time to time the new design may be very usefull.
Does your offer stand for overseas owners too?
Awaiting your news i remain with kindest regards

  24. Yes please for grippier wheels when they become available. My better half is chuffed pink (Blue version actually) with her “Wedding Anniversary GOKart!

  25. Would love a set of grippier wheels when available as its been a pretty soggy summer down here in Wales-also looking forward to the umbrella holder coming on stream-get it haha ! Its a sad life I lead !

  26. I should be grateful to receive the new grippier wheels and the non-clagging (?) front wheel. Why not go the whole hog and get a new sticker for my red trolley? Happy with my coloured battery though.
    Regards
    Geoff Cackett

  27. Please let me know when these are available as I do have the wheel spin problem.

    Regards

    Tony Edwards

  28. the wheels are a really good idea on a number of rounds my gokart has struggled round my course with traction. so count me in

  29. Hi Guys Grippy rive wheels sounds like a great idea for wet slippery grass , I’ve been pushing mine up them put me down for a pair please.

  30. I’m having a few wheel spin problems when our course is wet so would appreciate the provision of the new wheel treads. By the way the modified front wheel cover works beautifully. No problems since it was fitted.

  31. hi,

just this month, I purchased 2 go karts..one for my wife (green) and one for myself (red)..we love them but do find there’s a bit of wheelspin on the hilly courses here in Scotland…. this grippy wheel looks just the perfect solution.
    James.

  32. Hi , Im Mark lewis and I recently bought a Go Cart from yourselves. The 3 times that i have used it, I have noticed that my wheels have been spinning and agree that the introduction of the new wheels would enhance my Go cart.

  33. I play at Aldwickbury G C which is very hilly and do experience wheel spin on some of the holes and if you are mad enough to believe me, stick a pair if wheels in the post to me when they are available.

I do promote your kart at every oppurtunity to my fellow golfers!!!
Any more grovelling and I might pass out.

    Frederick

  34. These wheels look cool ,it will be good not having to do wheelies in the club car park any more I thought I was the second Evil Kanevil. Can you have colour coded badges for the centers?

  35. Alan,
We haven’t allowed for a badge to be fitted to the wheel centre – it currently has the three circles of our logo moulded in, so there isn’t a flat surface on which to stick it. You could get your Humbrol model paints out, and send us a photo…?

  36. I am interested as our cournse is quite hilly so a better grip is a serious improvement.
    Thanks,
    Robert

  37. At last a manufacturer that listens to feedback, well done to the design team. I’ve had my go Kart for a couple of weeks and it does what it says on the tin, the only problem was a bit of wheelspin going up hill at my course up steep hills but overall a great purchase.

  38. they look great and the abswer to a problem I have with the wheels slipping/crabbing on a some of the holes on my course where I’m going up or downhill

  39. Re: Wheelspin
Hi just to let you know, I do not have problem with wheelspin on my regular course but find that I do have this problem when playing some of the more hillier courses that I visit in the north wales area. Please would send information when your new gripper wheel is available.
    With thanks

  40. Hi,
Having recently purchased my golf kart I must say “I’m well chuffed” but frequently play a course around Reigate which is “very hilly” and would welcome the new wheels with open arms, as this would stop my burn outs, heading up to the 2nd tee.
    Please keep me posted.
    Many thanks,
    Phil.
