…”Try, try and try again”, did he three putt?
“Some seven hundred years ago, Robert the Bruce had his castle in
Lochmaben. The “motte and bailey” remains – the flat area where there
was the wooden “castle”, the towering defensive banks which any enemy
would have to scale.
Today, part of Lochmaben Golf Course, the steep grassy banks defend
the second hole.
As the soldier might report:
Sir,
I have the honour to report that your Gokart successfully scaled the
glacis and delivered its weaponry for use in the (more or less)
successful attack on the second hole. Neither machine nor driver
suffered from excessive stress or panting, heart palpitations, or
falling down.
I remain, Sir,
Your obedient servant,
Bill A.” Lochmaben
