Upgrade to the GoKart Automatic
Upgrade your GoKart and get a new two year warranty
If you already have a GoKart with standard speed control, it can be upgraded to use our Automatic system. For more info on how the Automatic works, please click here.
Converting your trolley is quite a major operation, which means it has to come back to the factory. During the upgrade process, your GoKart is completely stripped down, with many parts, including all the electronics and wiring, being replaced. While we’re about it, we also inspect the whole trolley, and renew any parts necessary, or even bits that we’ve just improved since your trolley was made.
Once that’s all done, it’s thoroughly cleaned and tested and returned to you with a new two year warranty.
The price for this service is £139 (ROI €169), including VAT and all transport costs.
When you place an order for the upgrade, you can tell us which week day to collect your trolley. We’ll return it to you on the same day the following week. If you’d prefer it returned on a different day, you can tell us that too. To order, click here to be taken to our web shop.
PREPARING FOR COLLECTION:
1. We don’t need the battery and charger back.
2. Please remove any accessories fitted to the trolley.
3. Put a label on the trolley with your name and address.
4. Fold the trolley up, but leave the wheels on.
5. You’ll need to pack your trolley for us to collect it. Please use one of the following options:
a) If you still have the original box, please put it in this.
b) Use another suitably sized carton.
c) We can send you an empty box with the courier when we collect your trolley (this costs £10/€12 extra).
6. When our courier collects the trolley, he’ll have all the labels to stick on the outside that will ensure it comes safely back to us.
Q1. Can I specify what time of day the collection will happen, or even just morning or afternoon?
A. Unfortunately not. Please arrange collection on a day that’s convenient.
Q2. Can you collect from my work address?
A. Yes, we can collect from any address in the UK and Ireland that you give us.
Q3. I’ve just tried to order the upgrade and it asked for my delivery address. How do I tell you to COLLECT from a different address to my home?
A. In this case ‘delivery address’ means ‘collection address’
Q4. Can I have a loan trolley while mine is under the knife?
A. Unfortunately not. We offer a free loan trolley to UK customers whose trolley has broken down. Please arrange for us to collect your GoKart during a week when you won’t miss it too much.
Q5. The Automatic trolley is only £40 extra to buy. Why is the upgrade so much more?
A. On our production line either system is an option, without additional labour time, so the only real cost implication is parts. When upgrading, stripping the trolley down is labour intensive. Also, there are the shipping costs, as well as an allowance for the extended warranty.
Q6. Can I bring my trolley to the factory for the upgrade?
A. Yes. Please call us to (01227 712288) make an appointment. Allow around two hours for the work to be carried out. If you don’t want to wait, we’ll point you in the direction of a nice golf course or cathedral or restaurant and you can leave the patient with us for attention.
Q7. Is it cheaper if I bring my trolley to the factory?
A. Yes, it’s £14 less (ROI €18).
Q8. Is the two year warranty just for the new Automatic part of my trolley.
A. No. The warranty covers the complete trolley. Also, there’s no need to register for this; we automatically add the warranty to your account.
Q9. How easy is it to get used to the new Automatic?
A. You may find that for a few holes one of your digits is still looking for the speed roller but you’ll soon adapt. We reckon 2-3 rounds and you’ll forget about the old system. The Automatic really is ridiculously easy to use.
Q10. What if, heaven forbid, I don’t like it?
A. Then we’ll change it back. If you want to keep the new two year warranty, we’ll refund £40 too (this will make the cost £99, which is the same amount you would pay if you wanted us to just service your trolley and renew the warranty).
Q11. Will my umbrella holder and bottle holder still fit?
A. The bottle holder will fit just the same. If you already have an umbrella holder, it needs a couple of modified parts, which we’ll supply free of charge. When you place an order, please mention this in the special instructions.
Q12. I can see a switch in the photos, what’s that for?
A. It’s just an incapacitating on/off switch, so that when you’re parked for a while (maybe outside the clubhouse) you don’t want anyone to nudge against the handle and set it going.
Q13. How do I stop it?
A. The trolley will stop when you stop walking when you have your hand on the handle. It responds to the small pressure in your hand and just stops. Similarly when you hold the handle and start walking the Automatic gains speed to match your pace.
Q14. How does the Automatic work, is sounds too good to be true?
A. It’s devilishly simple (and covered by a patent). Little pixies in the handle with highly sensitive inner ears can sense whether your hand is pushing or pulling on the handle. They then psychically control the motor by electronic thought waves and tell it to speed up or slow down. Or not.
Alternatively it might be a switch system. But that’s a bit boring isn’t it?
