Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard?
If it ain’t broke, time to fix it
With the US Open due to start in just over a week it is inevitable that thoughts turn towards the likely contenders yet one name that should be mentioned but will not feature in any list of likely winners is that of Padraig Harrington. Ever since winning three majors in the space of 13 months, the last of which was the 2008 US PGA Championship, the genial, articulate and very likeable Irishman has disappeared down the world rankings quicker than Rory McIlroy can miss a four-foot putt. Since then he has struggled not only to win but to even register his name on the leaderboard and when someone of his ability and experience struggles to make the top-10 in run-of-the-mill tournaments, it is clear that he has a significant problem. And that problem, of course, is that he decided to re-build his swing. (more…)
My, what a big one!
Jun 05 2011 Posted in GoKart News by GoKartWe’ve had a busy weekend. You will have noticed if you live in the vicinity of Sandwich, the cranes and helicopters were a bit present (we’re sorry!) But, heck, it gives the players at St Georges something to line up on.
.We’re praying it doesn’t go into orbit before play kicks off in the Open. Patrick Moore reckons it’ll become the ninth planet if it does a runner.

GoKart on form and making the cut!

All general statements are false
Stats, damned stats and the truth
If you are of a particularly nerdy bent, like to wear an anorak in bed and overhear conversations in which people use the word ‘pedant’ a lot, you are probably one of those people who is absolutely delighted that it is possible to get pro golf statistics on just about everything. On the US Tour, for example, apart from the regular categories of driving distance and accuracy, sand saves and the like, there are also headings for proximity to the hole, scrambling and a brand new one called ‘strokes gained – putting.’ And no, I’m not going to explain that one for two reasons; first, life is too short and second, I have no idea what it is.
But the rather prosaic truth remains that at the very top of the pro game, where all the competitors, it seems, are beautiful ball-strikers, are all fitter than a butcher’s dog and every one of them can get the ball up and down from a spectator’s coat pocket, it is putting that makes the difference between having a good and a bad week. All of them can routinely putt, of course, to a standard that would make you and I more excited than Dale Winton in a (more…)

May 25 2011 Posted in GoKart News by GoKartG Mac, G Force, G Spot, G Kart…whatever next?
It’s been a bit windy down South and our sign suffered. But we did manage to save our big ‘O’. And the sign man will be putting it back up later in the week.

Phwoar!
May 21 2011 Posted in Golf News, YouTube by GoKartTake a look at the World long Drive Champion, Joe Miller. We saw him in action at Golf Live yesterday and filmed one of his shots. Just before this he hit a seven iron 275 yards. With his driver he can reach 470. Phenomenal.
Our drives at Canterbury this afternoon felt just a little bit insignificant.
