‘Tis the season to be Knobbly, Tra-la-la-la-la-la,la-la-la.

Nov 05 2011

Sing along!  It’s that time of year again when we’re in danger of coming over all festive. Out with the hobnobs in with the mince pies.  Well not quite…but it is time to launch our Christmas offer.

This year we’re getting bossy.  We want you to play a bit more golf. Okay so it’s getting a bit murky and squidgy and those lovely well struck three woods aren’t running quite how they did in July (like half the distance? Is that fair?) BUT winter golf can be fun all the same. Just think, when next April comes you’ll be all limber and ready, and all your couch potato friends will be trying to find some sort of swing.

So here’s our cunning plan.  Buy a GoKart between now and the beginning of January and we’ll give you a set of hedgehog wheels absolutely free.  They usually cost £61.  Golf courses are allowing electric trolleys in winter more and more now as long as they’re fitted with winter wheels.  So you have no excuse.  On with the thermals and off you trot!  Click here to visit the shop and you’ll be knobbly in no time at all.

And our favourite hedgehog joke? Hedgehogs. Why can’t they just share the hedge?

GoKart Psychology Test

Oct 31 2011

Take a look at this picture and say what you notice first;

GoKart electric golf trolley

1) That’s a fine looking golf trolley (GoKart owner)
2) I can hole that putt (optimist)
3) Going to need that  brolly (pessimist)
4) Lovely scenery (work for the Scottish tourist board)
5) Sod the rain, I wish I was there (real golfer).

With thanks to Linda C for the photo from Arran.

The new Automatic – we can update yours too!

Oct 08 2011

A lot of of GoKart owners have asked us about upgrading to the new Automatic handle system, and we promised we’d let you know when this was possible. So now it is!

It will involve you being without your trolley for a week, and it’s more expensive that the difference in price between the standard trolley and the Auto (that’s the bad news). The good news is your GoKart will have a really good going over here – apart from fitting the new handle, when we have it completely dismantled we’ll replace anything that’s looking a bit tired or needs updating AND YOU’LL GET A BRAND NEW TWO YEAR WARRANTY on the trolley.

We just wanted to make it worth your while – and ours – when the beastie comes back for plastic surgery.

There are full instructions on this webpage – we’ve tried to make it as easy as possible to make arrangements for the return.

As for the our new control system…we reckon you’ll love it! It’s already getting rave reviews with customers amazed at how easy it is to use. Just you wait and see!

Let’s talk Hedgehogs!

Sep 28 2011

Autumn is here (and just to be contrary, we’re looking out of the window at brilliant sunshine and a temperature close to 27 degrees…British weather is certainly interesting…) No matter how much we want to hang on to the last vestiges of summer, we know that inevitably we have squishy fairways and waterproofs ahead of us.

But the good news; more and more courses are allowing electric trolleys throughout the winter as long as they’re equipped with winter wheels. Trolley bans are becoming more of a rarity, thank goodness. We’ve tested the hedgehogs on GoKarts for a long while now, and it’s very apparent to us that they really do reduce turf damage.  The test here is interesting too; hedgehog test  and might help to persuade your club if they’re still in a quandary.

Hedgehogs are available on the GoKart webshop for £61 plus p&p (ROI €74).  This is a set for all three wheels; the drive wheels and the small front wheel.

Could be the end of a spiky problem!

Dress rules

Aug 09 2011

The result is in. 69% of visitors to the GoKart website say smart casual is the correct dress rule. 25% say “it’s ok, we’re grown ups, we’ll decide for ourselves what to wear”. 6% say “long socks with shorts”.

We have to admit we support the relaxed approach on the course, and breathe a sigh of relief when we don’t have to change into a tuxedo and tiara for the post round beer. Surely it’s in a club’s interest to make it as easy as possible for members to avail themselves of the facilities before, during and after a round.  So golf shoes allowed around the place and sensible, but not over stringent, dress rules. That’s our pennyworth anyway…

Bill’s Open blog. Signing off

Jul 18 2011

Literally as our final shift started the heavens opened and we got absolutely soaked.

One of the ladies on our team celebrated her 20th birthday today. We did not see any cakes!!!

There is an end of term feeling amongst not only the team but all of the ancillary staff who have been operating behind the scenes who we have come across during the week.

I am queue jumped by one of the team so that he can take Robert Rock to the range. This turned out to be error of the week as next up is Rory McIlroy and into my buggy he jumps.

We chat about his US Open win, the weather and the great feeling of satisfaction he gets from the crowds who support him.

Even at my age I feel strangely excited at meeting such a successful sportsman who has no side whatsoever.

What a great view we had of Miguel Angel Jimenez performing his stretching exercises – the more he stretched he more the crowd roared

The time has flown and we have enjoyed the camaraderie an event like this generates. We all say our goodbyes and promise to meet up next year at Lytham and St Annes.

If you get the chance to work at a golf tournament seize it with both hands. You work with some great people. You may even get to meet some of the World’s great golfers if you are lucky enough to work inside the ropes – and that is something you can’t buy at any price.
