Sneaky peek at the new front wheel
Aug 14 Posted in GoKart News by GoKartHere’s a bit of news about a work in progress.
We’re in the process of redesigning our front bag support/mud-guard. In the past, some customers have had problems with a build up of claggy mud (is claggy a word? Well you know what we mean) You know, the stuff that sticks to your golf shoes too and makes you finish the round several inches taller.
The plan is to make a new front wheel assembly that doesn’t collect a significant amount of the course in sticky conditions. The picture below shows how the revised part will look. The tooling change is well underway, and we hope to have it in production during October. We’ve designed it so it’ll fit all current GoKarts, so any existing owner that has a clogging wheel problem will be able to take advantage of this revision.
In line with our policy of making updates that solve problems freely available, when released, this will be supplied free of charge. Please note, there’s no need to tell us now if you’d like the part. Please keep an eye on our newsletter; we’ll let you know as soon as we have it available.

I haven’t had any problems with mud/grass in the front assembly despite there being a lot of wet freshly cutgrass on my course at times.
However, I have split the odd finger-nail when strugglng to get the bungee clips to rotate, so I would appreciate a replacement when available (red for preference) just to save my nails !
When I bought my GoKart in February this year, I also bought a spare battery carrier, as the battery (18 hole type) from my defunct imported and “auto-collapsing ” old trolley was still useable (although it needed economic use to get round the full 18 holeswith the old trolley). Used on the GoKart, on alternate rounds, it still easily copes with 18 holes and recently, when I forgot to put the other battery (the one from GoKart ) in my car boot ready for a 36 hole day, the old battery was still coping at the end of the second round. Your machine really does “what it says on the tin”.

Hi Ling -
You’ll benefit from the new lower bag rest when it’s moulded, we’ll let you know when it’s ready to send. All very easy to fit and no more clogging! Glad everything else is hunky dory and you’re enjoying the GK.
October 14th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Just bought my new GoKart, used it the first time, generally very happy except the front wheel is sucking up the cut grass/leaves and mud.Oh,green keeper were busy tinning the fairways.I wonder if my new trolley bought in Oct has the old design.
October 11th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
Hi Steve,
Well happy wotsits! And yes, you can have a new lower bag rest as a prezzie but…it hasn’t been possible to make the foot stick up any higher, given the design constraints of modifying the existing tool. It couldn’t be made bigger.
October 11th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
Thanks, Interesting you responded on my birthday, I will treat as a present from you!
OK seriously … reading between the lines do I take it the new front wheel has the foot bit been changed?
Steve
October 4th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Steve,
We know what you mean. We’ve tried loads of different make of stand bag on the GoKart. The trouble is there are many different base/stand configurations. There’s no way we can make one design to suit them all. We hope our latest stab at it will be a good compromise.
Cart bags are a different thing completely - we’re confident they’ll all fit the GoKart really well
September 30th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
This new bag support would benefit from a larger foot to rest the bag on as I have a problem with the foot of my stand bag twisting on the small foot, if it was a bit longer it would rest on the sole of the bag and not the stand foot, does this make sense?

Mark says :
I would like to recieve the new front wheel and the new tryed wheels when avaliable aswell , our course gets a bit boggy and grass gets stuck under front wheel and its quite annouying. In anticipation .

The new bag support looks great, so as soon as ready i would like one for my wifes trolley, also the new all weather wheels to stop side slip on our soggy course. Thanks in anticipation.
Jim.
September 17th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
I addition I would like to receive the new front wheel and the new tyred wheels when available
September 17th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Looks good, but so is the existing one. It cleans cut grass off nicely if you pull the cart backwards, from stationary.
September 16th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
Another opportunity for me to impress with this update!! Bring it on!!
September 16th, 2008 at 8:20 am
Agree with other responses about the new front wheel, the last few weeks have been particularly problematic with clogging due to the weather conditions and the state of the rough on the course. It looks as if the new design will solve that problem and look forward to ordering one.
It is also good to see how you continue to try to improve on an already great design and I am sure, for instance, that the umbrella holder will be well received.
September 8th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Bill Cranston and I were just talking about the front wheel clogging up and he wasn’t sure if he’d read the email right as to the replacement. I felt really guilty as it was me who talked him into buying his GoKart!! So, thank you for redesigning it and replacing FOC. By the looks of the sneaky peek, it should be fine now. Every where I play people are asking me where I got my trolley and I put them straight onto your website. ( I think 10% should just about cover it!!). Only joking.
Keep up the good work!!

September 5th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Thanks guys for looking after your customers.
Please put me down for a new front bag support. I have picked some sticky mud in recent wet conditions.
The GoKart continues to impress everywhere I take it and attracts a lot of interest.
September 5th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Hi GoKart, put me down for new front end and rear tread wheels please. Took kart out for first time this morning - in the pouring rain on hilly terrain but i must say i am more than impressed with the power of this kart - i dont think it struggled with any undulations even in the slippery conditions!
Many thanks, top notch
Adam

Digby,
We’re getting on with tread on the wheels (see here). We’re calling the new wheels “The Scurrah’s” in your honour. Have we got to pay you royalties too?
September 3rd, 2008 at 10:00 pm

September 3rd, 2008 at 11:26 am
Great news re the new front wheel as I experienced problems with “claggy” mud and have also twice picked up a twig which inserted itself through the assembly and was very difficult to remove on the course in wet weather!
Great service as always. My trolley creats great interest wherever I play and I am always being aked for your website address by those interested.
September 2nd, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Had my golf trolley since June 2007 no problems and still cruising the fairways. However, please supply the new front wheel when available as I have experienced some clogging problems in wet conditions on the existing specification. Keep up the good work and again thanks for the excellent customer care.
P.S. I’m no longer the only owner of a GoKart at Pontypridd Golf Club, the word is getting around!!
Thanks.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Your customer service is top notch - which is hugely refreshing! I have not had an issue with clogging yet, which is quite surprising given the less than sunny summer! I have had an issue with slipping wheels and slightly awkward application of the rubber strap, which hopefully the re-design will solve.
I will gratefully receive the new front and rear wheels once available. Keep up the good work.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Baz,
Don’t worry, we won’t go bust. We’ve had a really busy summer - it seems the GoKart is hitting the sweet spot for lots of golfers, and it looks like we’re here to stay.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:45 am
Great news about the unclaggable front wheel assembly. I’m particularly interested that you’ve redesigned the locations for the dog lead clips of the bungee strap. I mentioned to your staff on the phone when arranging a replacement battery (exceptional service, by the way) that I had to replace mine with a strap from an old pull along because the originals wouldn’t fit with my bag in place. Please include me on the list for a replacement. (But don’t let all these freebees lead to bankrupcy - we still need you!)
August 30th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Adrian,
As soon as any new part is available, we’ll let all owners know via our email newsletter. At that point, you can place an order if it’s a part you need.
August 30th, 2008 at 9:28 am
Will these new mudguards be sent out to existing customers automatically or does one have to request the said item?
August 29th, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Rob,
We’ve noticed this. We couldn’t find a way to make the handle wide enough to accommodate all sizes within the original design, and as the mould tool that makes the handle is about the size of Wales already, it’s not going to be easy to fix at this stage. Can we sponsor the card at your club next time it’s printed - on the condition it’s the right size for our card holder?!
August 29th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Any chance of a slightly larger cardholder in the future? There seem to be a number of clubs and courses that have non-standard score cards and they don’t fit!!!
August 27th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
Raymond,
We don’t have a date for the brolly holder at the moment. It should be ready later this year. We will keep you posted
August 27th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
New design looks great, and very practical. Excellent to see a commitment to continuous improvement in action. Can you send me one(green if possible) once they are available.
When will the brolly holder be available?
Raymond
August 27th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Rhonda,
These changes are not available at the moment - they’re in development. Existing owners will get the revised parts free of charge if they would be of use.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Considering buying a go kart - would i get the new wheel fitted when i order it?
August 26th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
I’d like to be added to the list for the new front wheel assembly if possible - and also the new wheels too as I have experienced wheel spin on the steeper hills on my course.
I do think the levels of customer service you offer are probably second-to-none in your marketplace. Something I mentioned to a fellow club member recently when he was asking me what I thought of my Go-Kart. Unsurprisingly the next time I saw him on the course a couple of weeks later he was the pround owner of a shiny new Go-Kart!!
August 26th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
Hi Go Kart,
Have read your articles on the new design of the front wheel ‘de-clagger’ and the non-slip wheels, both of which I have suffered from over the last few weeks.
To date, I have used my friend’s sand wedge to poke out the claggy bit caught in the front wheel - I would point out that she’s blissfully unaware of this blatant abuse of friendship, but look on it as a test of true friendship if I’m ever caught!
Therefore, assuming one day I’ll no doubt be rumbled, please could I be upgraded with both the new grippy wheels for the back and a de-clagger one for the front? Thanks x
August 26th, 2008 at 8:00 am
I’d like to take up the free replacement offer when available. The GoKart is the best trolley around but these modifications (mud traps and bungee clips) will make it even better!
August 25th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Bob,
You’ll find the new part has solved this issue too - we’ve moved the hook holes away from the bag so the ends of the bungee are free to swivel to their hearts content
August 25th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Hi love the design of the new front assembly, can I make a suggestion for a slight change when you are doing the new one.
The rubber band that support s the bagat the bottom is great but the clips on the rubber band do not move around easily to get the band in the right position when clipped onto the front assembly. Could you consider making this better somehow !!1
Thanks
Bob
August 25th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Please send me a new support/mudguard when they are
available. I have had a problem with the present one getting clogged up. Well done for keeping abrest of these problems.
Very glad I changed to Go Kart.
Many thanks. Peter.
August 25th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Excellent news, I have experienced problems in wet weather and with frost (the later back in January not recently!).
Many thanks for the grwat service.
John
August 23rd, 2008 at 10:14 am
This is good news I have a problem with the space between wheel and guard clogging up when wet grass clippings are around. This sets off an annoying noise and it is not that easy to clear. Otherwise my Kart is still goig well after 18 months. Please add me for the new assembly.
Cheers Charles
August 23rd, 2008 at 9:26 am
Terrific ideas, please put me down for the new front Mudguard and non slip wheels as I had problems last Winter having to remove the front wheel to clean after each round.
What a breath of fresh air, a company that cares about its customers, keep up the good work.
Thank you all.
August 23rd, 2008 at 8:56 am
great news, let me know when its available. I will be able to throw away my bent metal thingy which i clean all the grass and mud from the front wheel after a wet round!
August 22nd, 2008 at 4:30 pm
What great idea’s, you guys never seem to give up aiming for perfection do you.
Put me down for the new front wheel support/mudguard and the new rear wheels with tread when they become available.
August 22nd, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Nick,
The trouble with stand bags on trolleys is they’re not designed to go on trolleys. The main compromise with most makes is that they have to lie on their side which makes half the pockets hard to get at. It’s difficult, if not impossible, to design the bag supports to hold all the various shapes and sizes of stand bags the right way round. Some sit better than other though. Don’t know the make, but one customer said the hole in the middle of the GoKart bag stop was perfect to secure the stand mechanism of his bag. We’ll try and find out what make it was and let you know.
August 22nd, 2008 at 1:09 pm
It’s not a major problem but a new front end would certainly help. A black one for me please. Have you had any thoughts on how stop a stand bag twisting on the kart or heard about any customer modifications?
August 22nd, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Great news, please add me to the list for a new mud guard assembly as and when
Well done (again)
teecee
August 22nd, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Great servie, please add me to the list for a replacement mud guard as and when.
Thanks
tc
August 22nd, 2008 at 11:56 am
Love the look of this new part, put me down for one please.
Took a hacksaw to the spare front mud guard the guys from GoKart kindly sent me as a spare, cutting away all of it between the 2 ridges that run along the top. No more clogging and if anything does get in there it can be cleaned out with a long wooden tee. Doesn’t seem to affect the strength of the part either. Took 5 minutes to do and looks like it’ll see me through until the official part becomes available.
August 21st, 2008 at 11:19 pm
I am one of the customers who have experienced front wheel clogging. The problem is mostly from the stuff the green keepers use on paths. It is possible to regularly remove the front wheel and dig out the mud but an improved design would be gratefully received.
Great cart, looking forward to the brolly carrying device. It’s on my Xmas list so hurry up and get it on the market.
August 21st, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Had trouble in the past but didn’t think you’d bother with a redesign, good for you! a blue one please.
August 21st, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Thank you for your efficient service please put me down for a new mud guard when available
August 21st, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Great ideas from you guys! I would love both the front wheel upgrade together with the ‘no spin wheels’ when they are available.
It’s a great product, which will only improve with these new features!
August 21st, 2008 at 4:58 pm
Sounds good to me
August 21st, 2008 at 2:55 pm
I’ve only had my Gokart for a few weeks so not had trouble with mud but have suffered from a build up of wet grass cuttings so i would like the new design when available please.
I also suffer from creaking when in ‘drive’ on the course. Trying to track it down and it seems to be from the top bag rest area, either the bag itself on the rest (though can see no signs of rubbing, or the hinged joint itself. Experimented with WD40 but no change. Has anyone else suffered this one?
Graham
August 21st, 2008 at 12:39 pm
please may i have the new design wheel
August 21st, 2008 at 12:00 pm
I look forward to the new front mudguard assembly. With the exception of this wee problem (”clagging”) I have been delighted with my trolley. It has been admired everywhere I have played and if I had a penny for every time I’ve demonstrated the assembly and disassembly I would be well on the way to covering the price! A great product and an excellent design.
August 21st, 2008 at 11:21 am
can i have a new mud guard please thank you . keep up the good work
August 21st, 2008 at 9:28 am
Great news, please supply me with the new front wheel assembly when it is available. Many thanks
August 21st, 2008 at 8:18 am
This looks good and will avoid the problem with clagging, making my gokart even lighter in claggy conditions. Yes please!
August 21st, 2008 at 7:32 am
Thank-you and yes please Dave & I will be using our trollies this winter and do let us know when the golf umbrella attachment is ready
. I’m sure yiou’ll be considering that handles very much vary in shape and size?
Reporting back only hear good comments about your service and noticing many more Gocarts at our wonderful mixed open events throughout the South East. Thanks again.

August 20th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Kevin,
Can’t give a date yet I’m afraid, but should be OK for later this year. We’ll have out as soon as possible.
August 20th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Please keep up the good work. How is the brolly holder coming on?
August 20th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
great news on your new wheel can i have one please thank you
August 20th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
Please supply me with the new front wheel assembly when it is available. Thanks
August 20th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
Good idea . Yes please when available.
August 20th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Hi Guys - strange how the “clagging” is a sudden problem when the replacement is free!! So suddenly my front wheel is blocking up so can you send me one for “Norman” when available. And for gods sake make a purple GoKart for Fiona Murray - she needs help!!
philip turrell
August 20th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
Great news regarding the solution to the clogging problem on the front wheel, I have experienced this with my Go Cart Trolley and will look forward to the release of this item. Have had many admirers of my Go Cart and I am sure this replacement would be an added sales feature to anyone looking for a new electric trolley…well done Go Cart !!
August 20th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Great news please had major problems this morning along with wheel spin, what a difference it makes when a manufacturer keeps their pre sale promises. Please advise when the new designs are available.
Take a bow GO KART.
August 20th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Front wheel looks good to solve the problem. Please post one when available.
My new Go Kart has been much admired at my club, the first, sure it won’t be the last.
Thank you, Clare
August 20th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
Hi
Both my wife and I have Go Karts and are delighted with them. Mine is the mark 1 model but the slight noise does not bother me. The new wheels and front assembly will be of great benefit as we come from the heathen north and play on a hilly course.
Thanks for your excellent service.
August 20th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
Yep like others newly mown, wet grass, combine to cause a wee problem - found lord lucan on shergar while cleaning in some long rough! Looking forward to the upgrade. More power to your pallet, New blue working well,
Thanks Jim
August 20th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
You boys continue to impress me.
August 20th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
I also have had a problem with the front wheel clogging up and getting jammed with small stones occassionally. The new design looks good and it’s a welcome change to see a company leading by example with their great customer service.
Smashing work guys ,keep it up.
ps, cart is fantastic !
August 20th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
Another great idea! I didn’t appreciate that this was an issue until I followed the mowers last week at my local course. Having said that the build up of grass was not sufficient to slow me down. My playing partners were experiencing the same with their (imported) trolleys - but I bet they don’t get the offer of a replacement part to solve the problem!!
August 20th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
Hi Chaps, Front end Bag Support looks great and realy should solve the Prob, Thanks again for great aftersale support
August 20th, 2008 at 11:17 am
I would love a “claggyless” front wheel. With your superb after sales service will the new design let me hit the ball straighter and further? Or is that an optional extra?
August 20th, 2008 at 11:06 am
like most golfers when its muddy or out early following the grass cutter the front wheel clogs, not a lot of effort to remove it. But its one up to you to make life easier on body and pocket, especilly for the old codgers.. Well done
August 20th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Blimey.
I just posted a suggestion about this problem and lo you were already onto it.
Fantastic support from you again.
10/10
August 20th, 2008 at 10:15 am
Yes I too welcome the new front wheel design and would like to hear when it is available. Thank you
August 20th, 2008 at 9:21 am
During March and April when it was very wet in Cambs I had problems with mud clogging in the mudguard so much so that the front wheel would not rotate freely; however, the powerful battery and motor didn’t even notice. I also had problems in Spring with grass build up in the mudguard after fairways have been cut. So the re-design in response to customer feedback is to be applauded, and then to promise to supply a new mudguard FOC is just outstanding. GoKart customer service is superb. The product is brilliant too, even though I bought my trolley just before the new colour schemes became available.
August 20th, 2008 at 9:18 am
good that you are doing the front wheel; it collects grass cuttings and squeals at low speeds.
Although I have only had it a couple of weeks, I think the cable that hangs where you need to push in the 36 hole battery is going to wear out or become damaged. it is difficult not to catch it; you could do with re-directing this.
Brian Bullock
August 20th, 2008 at 8:42 am
I too have suffered this problem during the winter / spring months. It was particularly bad when the ground was sticky because we also have gravel cart paths on our course and the gravel would get trapped due to the low clearance between wheel and guard. I have on several ocassions had to dismantle the front wheel section whilst on the course to clear the problem.
I’m therefore pleased that it wasn’t just in my head and that you’re re-designing the problem out. Can I have one please when they’re ready? Great work!
August 20th, 2008 at 8:17 am
Very impressive service. Only noticed the claggyness last weekend but count me in for a replacement when available. Everything else (except umbrella holder) is more than perfect at mo, keep up the good work.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:17 am
Morning , yes I too have had problens of the mud and grass ” build up ” so good news about the re design
Great service
August 20th, 2008 at 6:50 am
New front end bag support looks great, can I have one please
August 20th, 2008 at 12:43 am
I like the look of the new front wheel assembly, some months ago you took my trolley back and supplied mewith a demonstrator which ad been slightly modified, and I haven’t had as many problems, the new design looks first class and should cure all the problems.
You also sent mea new charger to solve battery problems and I am appy to report no further problems on the battery front with new charger doing a first class job
Look forward to the new wheel assmbly becoming available and showing it to my golfing pals.
August 19th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
yeahguys it’s a great idea to change the guard as i’ve had to take off my wheel during a game to clear it
August 19th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Woohoo! more improvments! Hopefully my trips into the deep rough will get less frequent when this is available. I have found that this is the easiest way to de-clog the wheels at the moment. Kind of like a grassy brush effect!
August 19th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
It’s very coincidental that you’ve sent this e-mail today. My wife has been very happy with her new Gokart which I bought her a few weeks ago but only today arrived home after golf, having played in wet conditions just after the grass had been cut, saying that having to constantly clear the front mudguard was a real nuisance. She looks forward to the upgrade and would appreciate you forwarding her one as soon as it is available
Many thanks for a great product.
Yours sincerely, Graham Gie
PS I’ve been so impressed with her gokart that I’m seriously thinking of upgrading from my Powerkaddy.
August 19th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
I think it’s just great that y’all at Go-Kart are so customer focused and provide these improvements in design/function at no charge. There are not many like you out there….
All the best.
Graham B.
August 19th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Fantastic, free parts, what a service.
Mine is great the F1 of carts and I will get one for the wife.
Seams a fair swop.
August 19th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
This is great! The only thing, and it’s a very slight thing, that annoys me about my GoKart is the clagliness of the front wheel. When our course has just been mown and it’s a wet day, I could feed a pony from what I pull out of the wheel arch.
Thanks GoKart Bunch.
Mark.
August 19th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
I am looking forward to receiving the new design for mud guard. Well done.
August 19th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
hi, I just purchased your GO KART 2 weeks ago. Not used it yet. Get my first chance in 2 days.My first thought was that the quality looked excellent and so was your service from order to receipt. Thanks.
When I unpacked I did think the mud guard would be a problem as our course gets very wet in winter.
I would like to upgrade the front wheel section when available. Please could you let me know, once again thanks a lot for your good service.
regards GORDON.
August 19th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Bu**er!!
just realised no spell checker on this!! how embarassing, I am not really illiterate, just over excited at the thought of a purple Go Kart!
Fiona
August 19th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Chris, This saves me emailing you about persistent problems with teh front wheel of our go kart( and embarassingly the friend who bought one on our recommendation!)
More importantly is the purple going to be an addition to your coplour range??? I am purple mad! even to the point of having a purple morgan sports car wioth purplr leather seats! so if you are making a purple one canI Part ex my blue one for a funky purple one?
Also no problems witht he new wheel hubs you supplied, and the new batteryt chargers are working fine.
Regards
Fiona Murray
August 19th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Joe,
We don’t have an exact date for the umbrella holder at the moment, but it should be ready later this year.
August 19th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Hi, I’ve had a clogging problem on a 2 or 3 occasions I would like the new modified part, can you let me know when it is available?
How is the umbrella holder coming on?
Kind regards, Joe Corris

Love the new look guard, will make my trolley look even more streamlined . Just love my trolley and I thinlk it has improved my golf as I am so proud of it (it has a name)!!
Let me know when the gaurd is available as we do get a lot of wet grass in Scotland.

Well done GoKart. It’s good to hear that you take on board the problems that GoKart user’s have experienced. Even better is that you find a solution to them and then offer a revised part free of charge. You’ve definitely “hit a hole in one” with customer relations. Excellent.
August 19th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Great to hear the front wheel issue is to be resolved, I’ve encountered it a few times, and it’s good to know customer feedback is taken onboard and acted upon. I’m sure rival kart suppliers out there, dont offer this level of customer service.

Ah, another welcome development. I frequently find that in wet conditions grass cuttings collected by the front wheek can build between the tyre and bracket. As they build up into a lump they begin to slow the front wheel down, usually resulting in an audible screeching sound from the wet grass. Once cleared away normal service is resumed until the next build up. This should hopefully fix it. Well done.
August 19th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
Alan,
We have fixed this problem with the revised design. The holes for the bungee are now set away from the bag and allow the hooks to swivel freely.
August 19th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
Great idea and if you could come up with something that makes the clips on the end of the rubber strap rotate more easily that would also be excellent.
It’s maybe just me but I’m always getting them stuck at an awkward angle as I pull the strap over the bottom of the bag and I’m wary of snapping them (although to be fair they must be quite sturdy as I haven’t managed to break one yet.)
I’m sure your resident team of whizz kids will be able to figure it out
August 19th, 2008 at 7:06 pm
I am delighted to see that a redesign is being planned. I played a wet hilly course in Edinburgh last week and the front wheel locked up because of wet grass cuttings.
It is refreshing that a new company listens to its customers.
So far, my GoKart has been great.
Keep up the good work.
August 19th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
The after sales service is fabulous!
August 19th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
Great news as we have experienced this problem. Will look forward to the launch date.
August 19th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Put me down for one odf these in Green please. Where I live I think I need floats on my cart after all this rain!!
August 19th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Gary,
Not automatically. We’ll keep you posted via the newsletter. When it’s released, if you would find this modification useful, just drop us a line.
August 19th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
Dear GoKart, we had been finding this a bit of a problem in the last couples op weeks. Does this mean you will send us replacement supports automatically ??
Kind regards
August 19th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
I am a new owner of a GoKart, I have alredy experienced problems with the front wheel assembly.
1.Build up of graas cuttings & mud inside the housing.
2.Wheel rubbing on the inside of thr housing when on a slope, or if the bag moves slighly off centre - need to increase the clearance !

my husband bought me a go kart just a small time ago, I mailed you to tell you how delighted I was, but, with all this wet weather I have found that the loose grass and mud does indeed stick in the front wheel!! I still love my gokart but am really pleased you are sorting this problem, thank you, P White.
August 19th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
This is really good news for, as you know, I was an early sufferer earlier this year until you lent me a prototype of your improved model. Since then I have been hard at it recommending GoKart to many friends, some of whom have already made the plunge.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Michael,
This has been done. It’s maybe not very clear in the picture, but the ends of bungee will be clear to swivel and won’t get caught under the bag
August 19th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
You need to change the location of the holes which hold the clips which hold the elasticated strap in place, moving them further “south”, because it would then be easier to use the clips which secure the strap. They would not then get in the way of the golf bag.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
Thanks for the front wheel holder update. You already have my name on your list for this replacement part but I thought it best just to let you have confirmation.
Thanks for your continuing excellent service.
Kind regards, Jim Henson.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
The bit where the elastic band hooks in broke off, because I tried to force it. But the good news is that the rubber band isn’t needed. My bag sits snugly and securely on the bottom holder without one.
I can only put this down to superb design, as I’m sure you will agree. The wheel itself makes groaning noises sometimes, but I know how it feels from my own bag-carrying days.
Top kit!
August 19th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
Despite the miserable weather we are having I have not done a winter yet to test the “claggy” problem. Keep the good ideas coming.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
I too have been experiencing cloggy mud in my front wheel (Yes even in August) . God knows what it will be like in the winter. But again you guys at Go Cart have listened to your customers and have addressed the situation. Can’t wait to find out when the new wheel will become available.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Brian,
The bag clips will be improved with this modification. This will prevent the hooks on the bungee getting caught under the bag and will allow them swivel freely. We’ll note your suggestion to fill in the sides of the front wheel. There are manufacturing implications to this, but it’ll be on the agenda when product improvement is discussed next.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Great - how about making the actual wheel solid (without contours) for ease of cleaning and reinforcing the bag clips.?
August 19th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
yippee, another great design from the folk at Go Kart….. hope you’ll let us know when this is available as i just bought 2 go karts this month and i can forsee that this new part will be invaluable in the winter ( yikes: was this the summer??????)

August 19th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
great news on the changes to the front bag rest.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Magic! - I have suffered the same cuttings build up at my course - you guys are really on the ball!
August 19th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
Brilliant - that should solve two issues - the clogging wheel one and the clips on the bottom strap popping off as you try to put it on the bag if the bag is the full width of the bottom bracket. Put me down for one please.
Regards,
Norman Taylor

The course that I play on has nasty sticky yellow clay. One of your new wheels sounds like the answer.
Incidentally I recently took part in a dawn to dusk golf marathon to raise money for a local charity. My trolly covered 100 holes in the day with just a quick charge during the lunch break. Thats what I call performance.
Quite a few members have commented on the modern design of my GoKart.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
great idea it has been a slight problem this year especially with wet grass cuttings
August 19th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Sounds good to me
Please let me have one when they are ready.
Many Thanks
August 19th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
Look forward to a new front wheel and I’ve had the same problem with the card holder.
Still love my go-cart and a couple of my friends have now ordered them.

August 19th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Look forward to receiving the new front as the clogging up is especially bad during the winter (or even this so called summer period we are experiencing at the moment)
August 19th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
Another great example of a company that listens to it’s customers!
I’m not mentioning other Trolley companies by name, but some would charge massive amounts of money for this type of upgrade or just say it can’t be done..
My Kart seems to clog with cut grass more than mud and i’m sure my course is to blame not the Mean Green Machine
August 19th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Well done!
I have this difficulty in the winter too!
Other matters I think should be addressed:
1. A brake for parking the caddy car on sloping ground. Either that or widen the wheel base, since I find that on a hilly golf course with the wind at right angles to the parked caddy car i.e. down the slopoe, my Go Cart blows over. On one occasion the plastic cover for the score card was knocked off breaking one of the lugs that it hinges on. I managed to get it back on but clearly it is not as secure as it was. There is now a nick in the black power cable in the same area caused by falling over.
2. I suggest a slightly knobbly tread, rather than the traditional “lined” tread of the rubber tyres. This would assist grip on steep & wet grass slopes and eliminate wheel spin which damages the grass and helps flatten the battery. This is a suggested improvement rather than a big problem.
3. I find that sometimes when I use the barrel adjuster for the speed control that the Go Cart shoots off at speed due to me rotating it too much. A clicking barrel adjuster that you can feel or hear changing would be helpful here so that you have closer control of how much you turn the barrel.
4. The “plus” shaped bag for the Go Cart is nice and works well but I have a difficulty developing. I normaly hold the bag by the handles and when I put it down temporarily I set it on the narrow base. This is wearing out the bottom of the bag as small holes are now appearing there. It would be a simple matter to havea black reinforcing pad put on the base.
5. Some oil / grease is starting to appear through the screws covering the motor. I can easily wipe this off, but think you should have a sealing washer in there. I wondered also if there may be a maintenance issue with the motor losing lubricant.
Other than these matters the Go Cart is going very well. Keep up the good work!
Neil.

great news about this redesign…….this has been a problem in wet weather and you can imagine the micky taking that goes on as I do running repairs on the course.
let me know when you release the part.
thanks

Hi GoKart
EXCELLENT! Only had the problem of “claggy” mud occasionally with all the rain we’ve had lately. Great to see how your product developments are filtering through. Incidentally is there anything you can do to improve the weather while you’re at it?
August 19th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
Having cut away the centre of the guard, it works well. The remaining ‘forks’ open up a bit but it does not appear to be a problem (yet?).

August 19th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
Bill,
Thanks for that. Our factory is built on reclaimed land from the old Chislet Colliery so we should have known that.
This update will be free to existing owners if it’s required.
August 19th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
Yes the front does get a wee bit claggy. Yes claggy is a word. Well it is in the northern dictionary. It has something to do with coal clinging to the coal face in a mine.
NEway will we have to pay for the new front wheel stuff and if so how much?
August 19th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Would welcome the new front wheel assembly when ready.
August 19th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Claggy id def a woed !!!!
Would love to try the MK 2 version. I get a build up of grass under the wheel when looking for friends ball in the rough!!
August 19th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Dear Wilf,
We’ve checked when your GoKart was made and you have our mk 1 motor. We’ll bring you up to date and exchange it for the latest version which will sort out the noise. We’ll be in touch to make the arrangements.
August 19th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
Great news on the new wheel - and even better that it is free. The new grippy wheel looks good too although I don’t think my wife (who I bought the Go Kart for) is suffering from this problem.
One thing that she does find is that the Go kart is a bit noisy, both wheel noise on paths and motor noise. Is this a common problem?
Generally we are very happy with it, though. Nice and light and does the job.
August 19th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
If at the same time you can make it easier to clip on/rotate the clips of the strap which is fiddley with a full size bag a la Powercaddy that would be helpful. Cheers
August 19th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
What can I say except yet again you demonstrate service beyond anything of a competitor, I am so impressed. I have seen one model in the flesh so to speak several weeks ago and can’t wait to get one.
Currently saving up and by the time….prob XMAS…comes around I will have some choice and all the latest bits with it too! Cool gear indeed.
August 19th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Good news on the front wheel - look forward to receiving one when available.
August 19th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
well done on the redesign folks, will stop me picking up the grass cuttings for the club!
Would love one when they become available

August 19th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Great idea
I have suffered a bit of clagging!
Please let me know when it’s available
August 19th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Great idea as i have just experienced the problem described for the first time since taking receipt of my cart a month ago. all this rain has caused my course to be sodden so the build up occurred on saturday past. I look forward to receiving the new part.
I have to say the cart has received very favourable comment from many playing companions and has been described as “the soft top sport version of power trolleys”!!!!!
August 19th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
BRILLIANT!!!!!
August 19th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
The after-sales service from you guys is first class. Many businesses could learn a heck of a lot from ‘Go-Kart’.
August 19th, 2008 at 7:54 am
Hi Otto,
Glad you like the front wheel plans! Yes of course we’ll be happy to let you know when it’s ready.
And we’re sorry about the scorecard cover. There’s a new one on its way to you today, no charge.
August 18th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
My wife and I are using gokart each and we expwerience the clogging problem described. We think it is an excellent idea that you have. Would you please let me know when the replacement part becomes available?
The hinge on one of our see through card holder snapped. The cover I expect needs to be replaced. could you please let me know how and where to purchase it?
