It’s time to strap Mrs Tiggywinkle to your trolley

A lot of GoKart owners ask us about the suitability of hedgehog tyres. We like them a lot, but, like calamari, can be a bit chewy. The best way of preparing is to fasten them to your GoKart wheels with cable ties. And yes, they do fit on top of our knobblies.

You can buy them from the hedgehog people direct (we don’t sell them). Here’s the hedgehog website if you want to order online. If you phone them, we dare you to ask for Mr. Tiggywinkle.

  1. hedghogs quite tough to fit i found if you soak them in hot water first they are much easier to go on the wheels

  2. Needed a set urgently for a round tomorrow and the pro shop at my club (Lower Peover) had some Hedgehogs from a company called Masters Golf (although I see sites like 118golf.com stock them). They would not go over the new knobbly wheels but I had kept the old ‘smooth’ ones and they went on these a treat with no need for clips or cable ties.

  3. I can fit hedgehogs on without any promblems but my course still will not let me use my trolley as they say that it is too heavy!

I play at the Isle of Wedmore who do allow pull trolleys with hedgehogs.

  4. Hedhehogs screw on nicely with self tapping stainless steel screws. Much more solid, and with a seperate set of wheels, always ready.
HOWEVER. THE SEAT NO LONGER FITS ON. Boo Hoo!

  5. My club shop sells the screw-on type ‘Hedgehogs’.
They are called “Fairway Hoppas” by Golf Innovations.
    Has GoKart checked these out?
As they are screw fixed and not fixed with cable ties do they affect the warranty?

  6. Fine to use these Colin, with either screws or cable ties (either will work) Your warranty isn’t affected in the slightest bit.
