Can I fit Hedgehogs to my GoKart?

We’re saying yes at the moment. They are specified for use on pull trolleys only by the manufacturer, but we’re keen to have owners use them if they need to (many courses insist during the rainy season). So they’re on trial at the moment (probationary Hedgehogs!?). A number of customers have been running with them for several months now, and there’s been no problems. We met up with the manufacturer, and have given them a GoKart which is being used for their own testing.

The only slight issue at the moment is holding them on the GoKart wheels. The clips that Hedgehog supply don’t fit our wheels too well. The best solution is cable ties (most DIY shops sell them), and there’s a few snaps below, sent to us by an owner, to show how it should be done.

So if you want to try them out, you can buy online here, and don’t worry if there’s something we don’t know about, and it turns out Hedgehogs and electric carts don’t mix – we’ll treat any related problems as warranty.

  1. I have a pair of these on my manual trolley, but as there isn’t anything for the front wheel on my Go-Kart I’m afraid it is no good for my club- not allowed!

  2. Get a spare set of wheels, and screw them to the wheels with stainless steel self tapping screws. No drilling required. New hedgehogs come with extra plastic plates to fit them directly to a wheel.
I have used mine several times with complete success, and no complaints from very fussy green keepers.
