GoKart employee jumps ship

Aug 28 2009

If you’ve phoned us over the last year or so, chances are you will have spoken to Hurricane Holli in the office.  Well she leaves us today, and we thought we’d embarrass her with a photo.  Born for a job in the golf biz it would seem. She matured a tad in the 17 years since it was taken.
So good luck with graphic design at Bristol Uni, have a wonderful time and come back and help us in the holidays.  All locations West of Reading, be warned.

And the winners are…

Aug 20 2009

Well, not a good year for the favorites in the majors was it?!

uspga2009

Nobody picked YE Yang from South Korea (not even Y E Yang)  to win the USPGA last weekend so, after rollovers at the last two majors, we promised, come what may, we’d give away three GoKarts this time. So looking down the list, did anyone pick the player in second place?…ah yes, just about everyone. Surprisingly though, only five people predicted Tiger’s score of five under.  So we put all five in the GoKart sorting hat (the REAL Harry Potter one bought off eBay)  and pulled out Chris H from Wakefield, Mark E from Campbeltown and Brian Mac from Blackwood.  We’d like to add that no customers were harmed in this pulling out of the hat business. You can ask them if you want. So well done to them. And hard luck everyone else.

Is it too soon to say “roll on the Masters”? Probably, but make sure you’re on our mailing list and we’ll remind you of next years competitions at a more appropriate time – say, Boxing Day?

Vousden on the USPGA

Aug 18 2009

Martin Vousden, golf writer and former editor of Today’s Golfer, indulges in some USPGA straight talking…

“The weakest Major?
The USPGA Championship is often looked down upon in comparison to the other three Majors – it seems to be viewed as the red-headed stepchild that no-one loves – but I always enjoy it. Okay, nothing can top the drama we had at Turnberry, when Methuselah Tom Watson very nearly created the biggest upset since young David put a rock in his sling and enquired of Goliath: ‘Do you like hospital food?’ but the last Major of the season came pretty close. GoKart crisps! But don’t tell Lineker.

Aug 14 2009

In the spirit of pushing boundaries (but never moving the goal posts), diversification and product development we want to show you our latest brainchild; GoKart crisps.  As you already know, carb loading is so very important when playing golf. Forget the bananas, you can avoid those 10th tee sugar lows with these babies.

Today’s Golfer have an interesting scheme we thought we’d try out.  You send in a clip of your golf swing and a PGA Golf Professional gives you a lesson. All very simple to submit and view the results (and nobody else gets to laugh at admire your technique).  Lessons start at £9.95
It’s called the TG Swing Doctor, and you can take a look here.
